I just took a call from a mom looking to schedule senior portraits for her son who is graduating from Ferris High School this spring. She said something that gave me all the feel goods and I just have to share it with all of you. Her friend’s daughter had used my services last year and called the photo shoot a “senior portrait experience” and insisted that she utilize me for her own child. This led me take a deeper look at what my senior portrait sessions actually provide for a family, and they really can be quite an event. I have decided to officially change the name of this service to the Spokane Senior Portrait Experience.
Senior pictures mark the end of a very special time. This is where a kid walks fully away from childhood and senior portraits should be the culminating presentation of what a person has built for their foundation. Because these photos are the culminating event of an area they need to be an event and celebrated! We will demonstrate through still images what has been accomplished in the youth that will be left behind as you enter the adult world.
Experiences, friendships, and personality
Let me tell you why your session is not just awesome pictures of your high school senior. There is so much more in these images. Your child just spent 4 years building an identity and engaging in the most profound experiences that has set the foundation for the rest of their lives. During their shoot I try to capture a senior as they are today and demonstrate what their high school years have crafted out of the beautiful child that entered as a freshmen.
During the senior portrait experience we have the option to visit places that mean something to the graduate. This will help to solidify not only the memories experienced in special settings but also the feelings associated with these locations. For some this is an athletic stadium, gym, or field. For others it’s where they rode their horse or won a fishing derby.
For Ashton we hit all the places. We began in downtown Spokane for the urban feel, skipped to Plantes Ferry for the nature and casual feel, then finished up at West Valley High School. As you will see sports is a large part of Ashton’s story. There was no way we were walking away from a senior portrait session without showcasing his love for basketball or football in a kickass way!
